Mr. Wu's Undies
When I was in third grade, word problems were really hard for me. You know... "If there are two apples, six oranges, and three pears, how many more pieces of fruit must you need to equal the number of bagels in a baker's dozen?" My problem is that I don't read a full question... I read the beginning, and then the end, and kinda mush around in the middle. (This is not the correct way to do things... but it's how I do it... maybe that's why I take tests to poorly). Anyway, I remember working with my dad for hours at the kitchen table at our house in Spring. It was just so hard... The questions were so random! I remember my dad reading a word problem to me about Mr. Wu's fruit stand, but instead of asking the actual question, he threw in, "What color under was Mr. Wu wearing?!"

We were ROLLING... ROLLING on the floor we were laughing so hard!

So tonight in my GMAT class, we were reading word problems out loud... and we were working on problems that include "parts of a whole." And on my turn, OF COURSE, my question was about fruit... and OF COURSE, I could barely get through the question without laughing. We had a really good time tonight. I like the other people in my class. We work hard, yet we don't take the class "too seriously." It's fun--we laugh, mostly at ourselves. For as much work as it is, the three hours that we are in class fly by. That only makes me feel like I need to be studying more. I guess that it's good that I've been working problems on the subway during my commute each day.
